ORMC Named One of Georgia’s Top Hospitals for 2016
Oconee Regional Medical Center (ORMC) was listed among the top hospitals in Georgia for the year 2016. Oconee placed second in the mid-sized hospital category according an article in the December 2016 Georgia Trend Magazine. This year’s ranking is a significant move up from twelfth (12th) place in 2015. ORMC has consistently placed in the top 25 hospitals since 2012.
Hospitals are ranked based on their Total Performance Score, which is calculated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). These include outcomes related to the clinical process of care, the patient’s perception of their care experience at the hospital and the value/efficiency of the services provided.
ORMC receives 3 star rating for overall hospital quality from CMS.
On July 27, 2016, CMS released its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. These overall hospital ratings are in line with the star ratings that have been a part of the Nursing Home community for quite some time. ORMC’s overall rating is 3 Stars with the scale being 1 to 5 Stars (higher is better). Our rating is in line with the national average. Across the country, 102 hospitals received 5 stars, 934 received 4 stars, 1,770 received 3 stars, 723 received 2 stars and 133 hospitals received 1 star. The data included in these ratings come from the information submitted to CMS under the required inpatient and outpatient quality reporting programs as well as the patient experience (HCAHPS) results. Other hospitals within a 50 mile radius of ORMC include six 3-star facilities, two 4-star hospitals and one 2-star organization. The complete list can be found at www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare.
